At this time, we do not take credit cards over th internet. This may be seen as fear of something that doesn't exist.
In the week of January 24, a large internet site was compromised, even though it had been declared secure by the owners. The list of credit cards on the site were stolen and posted on another web site. Any site that contains credit card numbers is like raising a flag to hackers to try this site.
We know that this may be an inconvience for the visitors of the site and be somewhat troublesome. We only take credit card numbers over the phone and they are never entered onto a system that is conected to the internet. We do not want to take a chance on having many credit card numbers stolen and being liable for whatever the expense may be for having the cards stolen.
Twice during the last year, my VISA has been compromised. The Credit card company refuses to tell me where the card was taken, but twice during the year, I have used the card to make a major purpose over the internet. Since the credit card company will not tell me where the card was compromised, I can only guess.
